Meet the staff

John Wynne (Proprietor, Company Director)

John started working in the motor trade at 16 once leaving school. After always having a passion for American cars and motorcycles he knew exactly which direction his career would go (in the end!).

For John, Harley motorcycles was where he wanted to be, he recalls, "as a boy, I remember seeing my first Harley-Davidson, I was amazed at the sheer size of it, for me it was the perfect machine, and I will never forget the awesome noise it made when the owner started it up and rode away".

John's working career started within Honda, then he moved onto Triumph and finally, Harley-Davidson, gaining his qualifications in City and Guilds whilst completing his apprenticeship in full.

John's career within Harley-Davidson started in a new dealership, Centurion Harley-Davidson, in the heart of Chester in early 1999. He was instrumental in the setting up and running of the new service workshop within the company. John and the team built up an enviable reputation for first class workmanship and provided a solid and reliable service to customers far and wide.

Whilst working at the dealership John attended regular training courses at The Harley-Davidson service schools in Germany and America, gaining Senior Technician status in 2004. Unfortunately, Centurion Harley-Davidson closed its doors for good in late 2004. R.I.P Centurion.

In late 2004, John was approached by the management of new Dealership Chester H-D Ellesmere Port, who asked him to join the team in setting up and working at the first authorised stand alone service/parts centre in Europe. This was whilst the new permanent premises were being build at Cheshire Oaks.

John then decided to take his training to the next level, "I pride myself on giving the best service I can to my employer, and their customers, so decided to continue my training within Harley-Davidson". With this in mind John undertook the training program at the Harley-Davidson factory in Milwaukee USA. This led him to being awarded Master Technician status in late 2005, which enrolled him in an elite band of technicians within the world of Harley-Davidson.

After a number of years, John realised his dream was not only to offer an extremely high level of service and expertise to customers, but to do so within his own company. This now, has been realised and he welcomes you to John Wynne Automotive, an Independent Harley-Davidson and Buell repair, service, restoration and custom build specialist centre.

Geoff (Vehicle, Motorcycle Technician)

Geoff is well known within the area for his reputation as an excellent car and motorcycle technician. Having started his career in 1970, he knows a thing or two about motors and is a font of knowledge for all things automotive.

Not shy to talk about his work on motorcycles, Geoff has owned everything from a Triumph to a Norton and was around when the Japanese invasion of the ZI's and Suzuki GT's hit the roads of Britain. Geoff says, "I remember when touching the ton on your Norton was an achievement, but the Japanese bikes would do it in third gear with ease!"

Geoff works at the garage, overseeing the car and van side of the business, and although things have moved on since he first turned a spanner in anger, he still likes to get involved with the diagnostic side of the business, always embracing new technology and getting his hands dirty.

Jennie (Director/Company Secretary)

John's long term partner and company secretary, Jennie handles the administrative side of the business and is no stranger to the automotive world. Jennie's own father owns and runs a successful vehicle repair business that has been trading for many years.

After having lived with (putting up with) John for many years, she knows plenty about Harley-Davidson and Buell motorcycles. Jennie can be found at the reception desk most days, and will be happy to take your call, even if you just fancy a 'chin wag'.

Dawn (Administration/John's Mum)

John's mother, Dawn, also handles administration and reception duties, proving this really is a family business.

Dawn is also no stranger to the automotive world, as her father and mother owned and ran a successful garage for many years in Burton, Wirral.

Dawn can often be found at the reception desk to take your enquiries, or making you a brew if you pop by.

Phil (Fully qualified factory trained Harley-Davidson technician)

Phil has many years’ experience working on all makes of motorcycles. His particular interest is in Harley-Davidson's and he is a fully qualified, factory trained Harley-Davidson technician.

Phil previously worked with John at Centurion Harley-Davidson before moving to Manchester Harley-Davidson. Phil is well known for his musical talent and is the bass player for local rock band Doghouse.

We are pleased that Phil has chosen to join us here at JWA. Phil says, “Summer of ’76, what a year!”
